
Matt Patterson
Professional Experience
At the Edwards Law Firm Matt handles Personal Injury, tucking Litigation, Auto Accidents, Medical Malpractice, and Social Security Disability cases. He is admitted to practice in all Oklahoma State Courts and in Eastern Federal District Court.
From May of 2007 to may of 2008 matt worked for the Cleveland County District Attorney's Office. During the coarse of his employment there matt handled dozens of preliminary hearings and several trials.
Matt has been working at the Edwards Law Firm since August 2008. While at the Edwards Law Firm he has practiced in the areas of Personal Injury handling cases involving Automobile accidents (including Commercial Truck Wrecks), Social Security Disability Cases, Medical Practice Cases, Criminal Defense and Family Law.
Personal
Born in McAlester, Oklahoma in 1981, matt grew up in Stuart, Oklahoma; a small community located approximately 20 miles away from McAlester. Mat was raised on a farm and ranch, and from this experience he had instilled in him a hard work ethic and a love for the outdoors. He is the oldest of the two children. His parents Bart, a pastor, and Shonna Patterson, a schoolteacher, are long members of the Stuart Community.
After Graduation from Stuart High School in 1999, matt attended Southern Nazarene University on an Academic and Baseball Scholarship. Matt graduated from SNU in 2003 from magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
From 2003 to 2005 matt attended Graduate College at the University of Oklahoma. After completing all his course work and writing his graduate thesis in the effects of term limits on the Oklahoma House of Representatives, Matt received his Masters of Arts in Political Science in 2005.
In august 2005 Matt married Ami Nicole Emery, of Indianola, Oklahoma. Matt and Ami meet through a mutual friend who worked as a lifeguard with Ami. Ami's life guarding skills still come in handy today since Matt can barely swim or float.
In the fall of 2005 matt began attending the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While attending law school Matt received his Legal intern's license, which allows law students to practice law under direction of a supervising attorney. Matt's main area of stud at OU was trial and litigation work.
After graduation Matt set for the July 2008 Oklahoma Bar. After setting for the bar Matt returned to McAlester to begin his employment as an associate at the Edwards Law Firm.
Matt and Ai have one son, Bartlett Cross Patterson, who was born November 20, 2007 in Oklahoma City. During Matt's enrollment at OU, Ami completed her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from OU, Ami completed her teachers at Krebs Elementary School. Matt and Ami are members of Arpelar Church of Nazarene. Both feel they are extremely blessed to be back in Southeast Oklahoma serving the community through their respective professions.
