Mark’s practice consists of working in the areas of personal injury, automobile wrecks, trucking wrecks, and medical malpractice in Oklahoma and Texas. He has always represented the hurt individual and successfully defeated some of the largest companies in the world including Wal-Mart, General Motors, UPS, Pfizer, State Farm, and the U.S. Government, to name a few.
Not one to settle easily, Mark has tried numerous jury trials in both state and federal courts all across Oklahoma. He has achieved multiple million dollar (plus) verdicts and has one of the largest personal injury settlements in the State of Oklahoma.
At the young age of 29, Mark handled a capital punishment case by representing an individual charged with two counts of murder. At trial, Mark was able to defeat one of the charges of murder and save the life of his client by compelling the jury to not give the death penalty.
In May 2006, Mark and his partner Tony Edwards (no relation) began the Edwards Law Firm. Their mission was simple: To provide better, more personal service to their clients.
Mark was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His family has lived in Oklahoma since statehood, mostly in Southeastern Oklahoma. The oldest of three boys, he lived for a short time in Oklahoma City and grew up in McAlester. He graduated from McAlester High School as a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society with a 4.00 GPA and was a starting pitcher on the 1988 McAlester State Championship baseball team.
Mark attended Oklahoma Christian University on a baseball and academic scholarship. He majored in Business/Prelaw and graduated cum laude in 1992. He spent the next year working two jobs and saving money for law school.
He enrolled in The University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1993. While in law school he focused on trial work. He participated in Moot Court and received the AMJUR award (the highest grade) in Trial Techniques. Mark was also awarded Top Law Firm honors in Practice Court. Mark Graduated in 1996.
Mark is married to Heather and has two children Ashlynn 11, and Chase 19. He and his family are very active in Life Church and the community. Marks parents also live in McAlester, as do his grandparents.
Mark is one of only six attorneys in Oklahoma to be Board Certified in Civil Trial Advocacy. Being Board Certified means that Mark has the highest standards of professional and personal conduct. Board Certified lawyers must maintain active trial practices and undergo a thorough screening of their credentials including: documentation for their experiences, judicial and peer reviews, an exam, and ethical scrutiny by the NBLSC standards committee.
Mark is recognized as one of the toughest and most successful trial lawyers in Oklahoma. He has obtained numerous million dollar (plus) verdicts, is listed as one of the American Trial Lawyers Association “Top 100 Trial Lawyers, is listed on the Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers, is AV rated (The highest rating available) by Martindale Hubble.
